Unless otherwise specified all* of the sawn and treated timber that we sell online is Tanalised C16 timber. We can however also provide C24 graded timber.
*Other than 2x2 and 2x3 sizes.

Tanalised timber has been impregnated with a preservative solution (Tanalith E) under high vacuum pressure in an industrial vessel. The treatment process ensures a deep penetration into the timber cells, for a longer-lasting protective result against fungal decay and insect attack than could be achieved by applying a surface coating. Pressure-treated timber is leach resistant, ensuring a long and trouble-free service life in a wide range of conditions. The treated timber initially has a green colouration, this fades to a honey brown over time and eventually a silver grey. No further surface applied product is needed to maintain the integrity of the treatment. Again should you wish to purchase timber treated using an alternative process please email our sales team.

C16 refers to the softwood strength class. A strength class is simply a group of species/strength grade combinations which have similar strength/mechanical properties. There are a number of C strength classes (C14-C50) but C16 and C24 are the two most commonly used. There are also hardwood strength classes which range from D18 to D70.
